Voyager, the Intrepid class Starship from the Star Trek series Voyager

This is issue six from the Eaglemoss Publications Star Trek, Starship collection and the one I have eagerly been waiting for.

voyager1

As with all of the collection so far, great detail and finish.

voyager2

Numbered by Starfleet as NCC-74656, gives an idea as to how many ships must of been in the fleet by this point in the Star Trek timeline.

Yesterday (September 19th) saw the release of issue 3 of the Eaglemoss Publications, Star Trek Star ship collection.

The newest model is that of the Klingon Bird of Prey

SS2 Bird of Prey

Again and as with the previous star ships, I’m not disappointed, great detailing and colour.

SS3 Bird of Prey

Essex Models and Miniatures have been lucky enough to also receive two models yet to be released in October so here is a preview of what you can expect.

Issue 4 is the Enterprise NX01

I’m not overly familiar with this ship but in the Star Trek timeline, the first ever warp drive star ship and predates the NCC1701 from the original 1960′s series.

SS6 NX01

Again fantastic detail, I know some of you out there, know me from older articles and waiting for my critical comments on these models, but in all honesty I can’t fault them, this could yet be one of the best part works sets ever made by Eaglemoss Publications.

This model is due in the shops on October 3rd 2013

SS8 NX01

SS9 NX01

Issue 5 will be the Romulan Warbird

This was in use late in the 24th century and at over 1300 metres long, twice the size of the Enterprise D

SS4 warbird

The fine detailing, even on close inspection is spot on and even has the Romulan crest.

This model will be available in the shops on October 17th 2013

SS5 warbird

So far this has been an amazing series of models and looking forward to issue 6 in November,  Star Trek Voyager probably one of my all time favourites.

Today I opened the second starship from the Star Trek Starship collection from Eaglemoss Publications and not disappointed, this is the Re-fit Enterprise rather than the original, and I must say it is a great representation although not as detailed as the Enterprise D, that said you can’t get away from the original sleek design of this iconic starship.

Other diecast makers have made the original Enterprise including Hotwheels, Ertl, Dinky, Corgi and others but as a collection I don’t think anyone else comes near.

USSEnterprise1

Again, nicely executed and the same high quality stand as the Enterprise D.

USSEnterprise2

There is no scale mentioned but again this Enterprise is half the size of Enterprise D and would be hard if not expensive to create a scaled collection, Matchbox did this for years right at the beginning and generally called ‘fit the box’ scale.

Below you can see the two Starships together and this alone give the sense of scale and the big lumbering ship the Enterprise D had become and the sleek slim lines of The older Enterprise.

starships1

Below I have scaled them together to show how they would really look together if they were scaled, but the dilemma would be, do you make the old Enterprise smaller or the Enterpise D bigger with no doubt a much larger price tag, you see the problem here. Anyway this promises to be a good series with some unique pieces.
